Can you get pet insurance on a dog that already has a preexisting condition? Or would it be better to….?

Can you get pet insurance on a dog that already has a preexisting condition?
Or would it be better to open a seperate bank account just for his bills?

He has chronic Pancreatitis.

He is a year and a half old……(we still don’t know how he got pancreatitis being that he has never had any table scraps just dog kibble though he did eat some crappy kibble at first “purina and pedigree” but around the time he was diagnosed we put him on “California Naturals” a much better food.

Anyways we have already spent well over 2,000 dollars in vet bills (I try not to add it up that is just a guesstimate….I’m sure its actually much more)

And he is going to have this his whole life.

So can he get pet insurance or should I just open up another savings account for his medical costs?
He is a 1 1/2 year old Minature Poodle

I don’t believe there are any insurance companies that will cover a condition that’s already been diagnosed.

Pet Insurance Reviews

What is the best pet insurance?

I just got a 8 week old chihuahua and am on the search for a good pet insurance for her. I have seen so many people who had to put their dogs to sleep because they couldn’t afford to pay for a surgery that could’ve saved the dogs life. I don’t want to get stuck in that situation so I want to get insurance. If been reading reviews on VPI vet pet insurance And have pulled away from it because most of the people who left a review left a bad one. Does anyone know a good pet insurance that I can get in California? Thank you!

I would recommend Trupanion Pet Insurance. It’s around $25 a month and there are no annual limits and no penalties for filing a claim which means your premium won’t go up every time you file a claim. It covers 90% of the veterinary bills for accidents and illnesses.
It’s good that you are reading reviews, because you should find the company that best fits your needs. I would suggest getting quotes from each of the websites to decide how much you want to pay and how much you want your plan to cover.

Veterinary Pet Insurance

Veterinary Pet Insurance
Pet Insurance; How to go about a marketing plan/promotion of?

How does it benefit the practice? (I already know all benefits for the owners)
Promotion ideas?

I have to make out a marketing and promotion for pet Insurance and these questions are hard to find answers for.

Any links at all really. . . Although obviously I know the basics, I’ve been pushing good insurance on owners for years in my clinic; but although it may be easy to do, it’s hard to write about.

This Assignment I have is a real doozie. (2nd year B.Sc Veterinary Nursing Student)

Pet insurance benefits a practice in the following ways:
1. It provides another revenue stream
2. It reassures the pet owner that you are looking out for his/her welfare, as well as for the health and well being of his/her pet.
3. It is a competitive step forward, since not many veterinarians offer it — it sets your practice apart
4. It allows you to ride on the marketing coattails of the insurance company — any local advertising, promotion and marketing — especially direct marketing — will mention the name of your practice. (The insurance company may pick up the entire cost of this advertising, or you may be asked to pay part of the cost — it is well worth it.)
5. The insurance company should give you referrals from enquiries in your district — that is, pet owners who communicate directly with the insurance company should be referred to you as their local representative, and pet owners who contact the insurance company solely about insurance should be told about your veterinary practice. (”By the way, Brian Boru Small Animal Practice of Bailey-Cream o’ The Reeks is a professional practitioner down the road you should be aware of, should you require their services — especially since they honour our insurance.” or words to that effect.)
6. Any incidental projects you put into your practice publicise and promote your practice tenfold. These include:
a) insurance of course
b) local workshops and seminars before schools, church groups, community organisations
c) newsletters –on line and printed and distributed FREE — on a regular basis
d) pro bono work for pet owners who can’t afford it (some sort of a means test here, so you won’t be taken advantage of) — perhaps exclusively for the very old or disabled. Specialise, say, in service animals, working with local orgs. for the blind, hard-of-hearing, etc.
e) brochures and handouts distributed in your surgery– not only materials that you receive on a regular basis from large manufacturers, etc., but little brochures you write on your own on local problems, say incidence of ticks and the like
f) offer to write a column for the local press
g) give talks at the library. This is very popular.
h) write a book or two. Not necessarily James Herriot stuff (although that would be nice), but little heart-warming stories, with you as the hero, of course. The book could be online.
i) set up and maintain a) website, b) a blog — and keep it fresh and up to date
j) contribute to other local websites, not necessarily having anything to do with animals: church, library, community, even real estate, agriculture, historical and cultural. Become de facto the local authority on matters veterinary!

You might want to look at useful blog on direct marketing that throws out a lot of sensible ideas on marketing and promotion. It’s called Direct Marketing Creative Generator. The blogger is a college professor and direct marketing veteran.

Pet Insurance Company

Pet Insurance Company
What pet insurance company do you use for your dog?

Why did you choose this agency?
I mean health insurance

I have Veterinary Pet Insurance. I’ve had it for 5 years. I have a Jack Russel Terrier. I pay $25.00 a month for full coverage (except for routine care). Unfortunately I’ve had to use it 3 times. Once for a pit bull attack on my dog. Her bill was 1300. I had the vet fill the form out (I took a copy of the claim form w/me), he signed it and they faxed it right to VPI from the vets office. I had to pay everything up front (put it on my credit card) and I got back 956.00 in two weeks. I has never taken more than two weeks for the claim checks to come. My monthly amount has never gone up. I get the money taken out of my account automatically. Sometimes I forget my dog has insurance.

Either PETA or HSUS has come out with pet insurance. I can’t remember which one. The last time I checked it wasn’t available in Florida yet. That was a year ago.

Any ideas to attract local customers to use our shopping precinct rather than out of town big boy stores?

I have a childrens boutique in a small village type shopping precinct. There are many types of shops from butcher, baker, greengrocer, craft shop, locksmith, fresh fish, cafes, bookmakers, hairdressers, beauty salon, dry cleaners, shoe shop, photographic shop, pubs, charity shop, ladies fashion, hardware, pet shop, jewellers, clock repairer, dolls house shop, insurance broker, toy shop, chiropodist, newsagents, independant supermarket and co-op.

We are all getting together next week to discuss ways of improving customer footfall through our pedestranised precinct – rather than people using out of town stores. Also, ways of attracting people outside of the area. However, we have a low budget to spend. Any fresh ideas for me to take along to the meeting would be much appreciated.

Point to note – over the road – we also have post office, major banks, travel agents two top tourist attractions and a beach less than one mile away.

I’ll use bike stores as an example.
At a good bike shop, the bikes are much more expensive than at the box stores, but they are of MUCH higher quality. You will also likely find many services complementing your purchase, as well, such as bike fitting (muy importante), riding advice, and a real mechanic onsite.
This sort of service keeps the bike shops alive, when it’s easy enough to ’save’ money on a crap-mart bike that’ll end up gathering dust in the garage.

There’ll be plenty of added-value services you can imagine for any sort of business. It’s just a matter of developing them to the extent that people will be attracted to the stores, and advertising, then charging a fair price instead of greedily going for the ’boutique’ prices on everything.

Should I go for Argos Pet Insurance?

I am one week away from getting my first dog from a rescue centre and am looking at pet insurance. I have looked at Tesco, Argos, RSPCA and Petplan amongst others. They all seem to do the same thing but at different prices.

I am looking at going with Argos and would like to hear from anyone who has has success or failure with Argos, or recommend any others. Thanks in advance

I’ve always received good service from PetPlan and also from E&L.
There is quite a menu to choose from including paying an excess to keep the payments down. Be careful when the dog gets older (and more likely to need the vet) because many policies will reduce the amount they’ll pay to around 50%. Remember, insurance is a business.

Abandoned animals Why would you?

What is the best pet insurance company?

I have a one year old border terrier and he is currently registered with Petplan pet insurance, however the monthly premiums are quite high. My dog is on the covered for life policy and petplan will pay the vets bills direct.
I want to know if there are any other cheaper insurance companies who will pay the vet directly if there are any bills and also who will pay the cost of any medical treatment for life rather than just a year.

The following website doesn’t review all pet insurance carriers, but it’s a good start:

What Pet Insurance

What Pet Insurance
What type of pet Insurance do you have?

Im looking into buying pet Insurance for my dog which is 4 months old.

If you don’t mind letting me know what pet insurance company you’re with and if you like them.

Thanks.

Have you been to www.petinsurancereview.com ? It’s a third party site that has ratings and reviews of most of the companies.

My dog is insured through Trupanion. They have the option to choose your own deductible so you can essentially “set” your own premium to fit your budget. They also don’t have claim limits or annual limits which is what sold me.
So yes, I like them and would recommend to anyone.

Lifetime Pet Insurance

Lifetime Pet Insurance

The more diverse pet insurance products in the market have however resulted to a lot of confusion for pet owners. After all, pet owners do not really know what to buy when it comes to these insurance policies. At best, they will find an agent that they can trust and leave all the choosing the recommendations to the agent. But though this is also a great way to get a great deal, it is still vital that they understand what they are buying and know what they will be using should something happen to their pets.

Below are some of the things that you need to know about pet insurance. Read on and get familiar with the details. If you have already bought a pet insurance, then this will be good as you will be able to ask your agent and confirm with him or her what you have read. If you have not bought anything yet, then this is a good primer for you because these are things that you should really look into when buying pet insurance for your pets.

1. Coverage

The coverage can refer to two things. The period of time that your pet will be covered and the amount of money that your pet is covered for. Your pet can be covered for the whole of his or her lifetime or for a specific number of months, usually for a year. The former, you must purchase for one time only while the other is something that you have to renew every year. You can stop payments anytime with the annual insurance policy while the latter cannot be stopped. Otherwise, your policy will lapse.

For the amount coverage, your pet will be able to reimburse a certain amount of money when hospitalized. Although the reimbursement will of course depend on the actual costs, the amount coverage refers to the maximum amount that you can reimburse for a specific period of time, usually a year also.

Take note that pet insurance works through reimbursement. It does not automatically pay for your expenses. You need to make advance payments before they are given back to you by the company. This will mean that you need to have an established company that will be able to stand by you.

2. Services covered

There are pet insurance that will only cover the medical costs and check-ups while others will also cover the vaccinations and preventive medical costs. This is important to take note of because some pets are bought at a very young age and may need the shots for their health. If you can find an insurance that will also cover the vaccinations they need, you will be able to save a lot of money.

3. Start of the coverage

This is one of the things that you should look into. Some pet insurance will not be in force the day you signed into the contract. There are even insurance policies that will only take effect a month after the policy was signed. This is to protect the insurance company from pet owners who just buy policies because their pets are already sick. It will be better if you find insurance policies that will start right off. This will protect you and your pet immediately should he get sick.

Pet Care Insurance

Pet Care Insurance

We all know just how important it is to have health insurance for ourselves; omitting our pets when just about everything else in our lives is insured just doesn\’t make sense.

Considered by many as an unnecessary expense, pet owners soon realize that vet\’s bills are costly and it doesn\’t take much treatment for them to enter into four figure bills. In the last ten years there have been many areas that have seen price increases and vets are amongst them; the result of this has meant that pet insurance premiums have also risen as well.

Pet health cover costs, like many other types of insurance plans, are on the increase; this should really be enough to make you think twice about delaying but this isn\’t the only reason. The fact is, the more animals you own, there is an increased risk that one of them will be involved in an accident or become sick; this can happen at any time and usually when you can least afford it!

There may come a time when you have to consider the cost of medical treatment; you know that treating your animal will place financial strain on you.

It was a huge shock when the vet informed us of the cost to treat our dog some time ago; I have to admit to asking myself at the time if we could justify the expense. To make matters worse, there is always a chance you pet still won\’t survive; however, you will still have to pay for the cost of treatment.

The financial aspect of looking after a pet is something that must be considered carefully; this is even more relevant if you are experiencing financial difficulties. If you are experiencing money worries then raising additional finances can prove embarrassing.

You can guarantee if you have money worries then you won\’t pay for the proper treatment of your pet; this is assured if you have a pet insurance policy because you will not to worry how much the treatment will cost. Although pet healthcare insurance costs are rising they are not going to break the bank; plans are still affordable, especially when you consider the alternative.

Nearly all pet healthcare policies can be tailor-made to suit individual circumstances; perhaps to incorporate more than one pet on the same plan. If you are a pet owner then perhaps this article has given you something to think about; you may already be giving this subject some serious consideration.
